Job summary

Pendle Valley Mill are looking to enhance our current nursing team with the addition of another Healthcare Assistant.

Are you an HCA wanting a fresh challenge?

We are looking for a HCA to work flexibly and are happy to accept applicants looking for contracted hours 30 hours.

Main duties of the job

As an HCA you will be expected to:

Take Bloods and Blood Pressure

Assess Height and Weight

ECG's and24hr BP's

Urine dips

New patient health check (bloods & takes lifestyle details)

NHS health checks

Flu, Nasal Flu and Shingles Vaccines

B12 injections

High Risk Drug monitoring monthly report & invites

Monitor EMIS test requests clean up where necessary & invite people in.

Emergency trolley check weekly

Deep Clean Emergency trolley & check monthly

GP Bag check

Clinical Room Stock Check incl. deep clean

Stock control/ordering stock

Work alongside our nursing team to support our Over 75 and Learning Disability workload.

You will be responsible for the delivery of healthcare to a diverse practice population. Supported by an experienced team, you will deliver exceptional patient care. You will make an assessment of a patients needs and act upon that assessment.

You will work collaboratively with the Practice team to meet the needs of patients by providing safe, personal, quality based care.

You will support the delivery of policy and procedures. You will use your own judgement, resourcefulness and common sense and demonstrate flexibility with regards to working patterns.

To support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The healthcare assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

Induction Training

On arrival at the practice all personnel are to complete a practice induction programme; this is managed by the Practice Manager. Prior to this you will complete a 5 day tailored HCA induction programme with ELHT.

Learning and Development

The effective use of training and development is fundamental in ensuring that all staff are equipped with the appropriate skills, knowledge, attitude and competences to perform their role. All staff will be required to partake and complete mandatory training as directed by the training coordinator, as well as participating in the practice training programme. Staff will also be permitted (subject to approval) to undertake external training courses which will enhance their knowledge and skills, progress their career and ultimately, enable them to improve processes and service delivery.

Collaborative Working

All staff are to recognise the significance of collaborative working. Teamwork is essential in multidisciplinary environments. Effective communication is essential and all staff must ensure they communicate in a manner which enables the sharing of information in an appropriate manner.

Service Delivery

Staff at Accrington Victoria PWE Healthcare must adhere to the information contained with practice policies and regional directives, ensuring protocols are adhered to at all times. Staff will be given detailed information during the induction process regarding policy and procedure.

Security

The security of the practice is the responsibility of all personnel. Staff must ensure they remain vigilant at all times and report any suspicious activity immediately to their line manager. Under no circumstances are staff to share the codes for the door locks to anyone and are to ensure that restricted areas remain effectively secured.

Professional Conduct

At Pendle Valley PWE Healthcare, staff are required to dress appropriately for their role. Administrative staff will be provided with a uniform whilst clinical staff must dress in accordance with their role.

Flexibility

We are a group of three practices based over five sites within East Lancashire and you may be from time to time be required to work at any of our other sites.
