Job summary

We are looking for full or part time Health Care Assistant to join our team at Swanscombe Health Centre, and branch practices.

Based at Swanscombe Health Centre, the role of the HCA will be to work within our nursing team, to offer support and treatment for our patients, focusing particularly on health improvement. You should have experience of working in a similar role, with relevant Health and Social Care qualifications, and have excellent organisational skills.

Main duties of the job

Duties will include (but not exhaustive);

  • Phlebotomy
  • Wound care
  • INR monitoring
  • Health Checks
  • B12s
  • Spirometry
  • Urine dips

Training will be given if the successful candidate does is not trained in these areas.

About us

We have a team of over 100 staff throughout 7 sites, including GPs, Paramedic Practitioner, Clinical Pharmacists, Physicians Associates, a Physiotherapist, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Social Prescribers and the administrative support workers. Even with a large team, we work closely together and clinical staff are supported by a weekly clinical meeting.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Report all matters pertaining to the care of the patient changes in their condition / circumstances to a relevant member of the nursing or medical team as a matter of priority and ensure that a document record is kept.

Ensure that the clinical rooms are at all times kept in a clean and orderly manner and that relevant equipment is ready for use by the nursing and medical staff during clinic sessions.

Ensure that vaccine refrigerators are at the correct temperature on a daily basis (when on duty) and that vaccines are within their expiry dates and used in correct sequence.

Ordering of vaccines consumable and medical supplies as directed ensuring that adequate levels of stock are available in the surgery. Maintain the cold chain when moving or storing vaccines.
