Job summary

To be an active member of the practice based nursing team.

You will provide high quality care to the practice population.

You will be supervised by relevant nursing medical and clerical staff at all times working to your job description and within your capabilities and the guidelines laid down by the CCG and locally within the practice.

Main duties of the job

carry out health assessments, testing urine, blood pressure checks,

taking simple documentary medical history, dressings on patients previously assessed by a trained nurse, suture removal, compression bandaging, 24 hr blood pressure monitoring, spirometry, phlebotomy and assisiting trained staff with emergencies.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Report all matters pertaining to the care of the patient changes in their condition / circumstances to a relevant member of the nursing or medical team as a matter of priority and ensure that a document record is kept.

Ensure that the clinical rooms are at all times kept in a clean and orderly manner and that relevant equipment is ready for use by the nursing and medical staff during clinic sessions.

Ensure that vaccine refrigerators are at the correct temperature on a daily basis (when on duty) and that vaccines are within their expiry dates and used in correct sequence.

Ordering of vaccines consumable and medical supplies as directed ensuring that adequate levels of stock are available in the surgery. Maintain the cold chain when moving or storing vaccines.
