Salaried GP: Sleaford Medical Group

Sleaford Medical Group is looking for a salaried GP to join our thriving multi-disciplinary team of clinicians to deliver an excellent standard of clinical care to our local population. We are a training practice, teaching medical students and GP Registrars in training.

We are a high achieving practice that is open to new ideas and ways of working. We are also a practice that understands the pressures of managing your work and home life; we are therefore open to the need for a more flexible working pattern and are keen to help the successful candidate develop their own interests, whatever they may be.

Main duties of the job

We are seeking a salaried GP for 9 sessions a week.

  • A competitive sessional rate
  • 30 patients per day plus visits
  • 1 duty doctor day per week
  • Blood results to be processed
  • Prescriptions to be signed.
  • NHS continuity of service
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus bank holiday allowance
  • 1 week of study leave allowance

About us

We have a list size of approximately 17,000 patients.We are a 3-GP partner practice that currently employs 2-salaried GPs, alongside a team of prescribing ANPs, minor illness nurses, paramedics, first contact physiotherapists, mental health practitioners, clinician associates and a PCC team who care for housebound and palliative patients.We also host out of hours urgent care in the evenings and the weekend.We are also supported by a brilliant team of managers, secretaries, receptionists and administrative staff who enable us to deliver effective patient care with patient access being our top priority.

Job description

Job responsibilities

GENERAL

Participation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional development

Attending monthly protected learning time sessions (when scheduled to work on such days)

Maintain own GMC registration

Comply at all times with the practices health and safety policies, in particular by following agreed safe working procedures and reporting incidents using the organisations incident reporting system

Comply with GDPR and the Access to Health Records Act (1990)

Understand and adhere to other statutory regulations that are required of the practice

Maintain confidential information obtained in the course of professional duties and records in line with practice and professional requirements

Undertake additional duties as may from time to time be necessary

Undertake any training required in order to maintain competency, including mandatory training (e.g. fire, manual handling, CPR)

CLINICAL

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion

Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation

Assess the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems

Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness

In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, develop care plans for health

Provide counselling and health education

Admit or discharge patients to and from the caseload and refer to other care providers as appropriate

Record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards

Collect data for audit purposes

Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)

Prescribe in accordance with the practices/Bostons prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate

In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk

Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision
