Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen at Princes Park Health Centre (Sovereign Practice). We are looking for an experienced Lead Receptionist to work in our busy GP practice. The practice adopts part of the Agenda for Change terms and conditions. We are a large, busy (expanding) practice and offer a friendly, supportive environment. We look forward to growing and expanding our staff team.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the efficient management and direction of the reception team, ensuring all administrative duties are performed effectively and to the required standard, meeting the objectives of the practice.

Princes Park Health Centre staff include 4 GP partners, a practice nurse team, business partner, practice manager, operations manager, a team of reception, secretarial and administrative staff. We are an open and transparent practice, and our aim is to provide a proactive, patient centred healthcare service, taking pride in everything we do.

Job description

Job responsibilities

a. Overseeing the administration and support operations of the practice, ensuring staff achieve their primary responsibilities

b. Line managing all administrative staff, supporting staff development, providing guidance and direction, ensuring staff are up to date with mandatory training

c. Completing staff appraisals as required

d. Identifying and delivering team training where required

e. Compiling administration staff rotas

f. Reviewing and updating all administrative and reception policies and procedures as required

g. Supporting the management team in the compilation of practice reports and the practice development plan

h. Developing, implementing and embedding efficient office processes and procedures to adhere to extant legislation

i. Acting as a focal point for the practice managing requests from external organisations such as the local police, solicitors, DVLA and other agencies

j. Coordinating the provision of reception staff, ensuring sufficient cover is provided for periods of leave and other staff absences

k. Updating the appointment system to reflect leave and other approved absences

l. Providing initial guidance and advice to patients who wish to verbally complain

Acting as building fire marshal, ensuring evacuation lists are current and that the visitors log is used appropriately
