We are looking to appoint a highly motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, resourceful and experienced Clinical Coder/Summariser to join our friendly team.

The ideal candidate would be a team player who would thrive on being part of a growing and busy practice with the enthusiasm to play a key part in our plans for the future. Keys qualities include attention to detail, methodical, used to meeting deadlines, well motivated, good interpersonal skills, positive attitude, reliable and have experience of providing effective administrative support at a high level.

The position is full time but we are also open to part-time or job share options.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the SNOMED coding of relevant information into patients electronic medical records on the SystmOne clinical system. Code relevant QOF / IIF / Enhanced Service data to support effective patient recall and to optimise income by ensuring the completeness of medical records. Furthermore, to summarise the records, both paper and electronic using GP2GP transfer, of all new patients as well as reviewing records for online access

We are a well-established GP training practice having 5 GP partners and 3 Salaried GPs serving a population of 10600 patients.

We have an excellent established team which comprises of Nursing team, Pharmacy team, First Contact Physios, Social Prescribing Link Worker, Care Co-ordinator and are fully supported by efficient and friendly administration and reception team.

We are a high QOF achiever, participate in local and national enhanced service delivery and are currently rated good by CQC.

We are part of Calder & Ryburn Primary Care Network (PCN) and have excellent relations with the practices within our PCN.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Clinical Coder. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Accurately clinically coding data on SystmOne into the patient record

Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed action

Inputting and extracting data as required to support practice reports

Filing and storing records as required

Photocopying documentation as required

Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails and mail in a timely manner

Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare records

Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessary

Answering incoming telephone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately

Carrying out system searches as requested

Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times

Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested

Ensure new patient records are received electronically and imported onto the clinical system, GP2GP transfer and accurately code historic data.
