Job summary

The Lead Administrator will direct the non-clinical teams supporting management and the Partners with regards to all elements of practice administration including; appointment systems, secretarial, correspondence management, summarising, coding, referrals, non-NHS reports, IT, finance, premises and patient services.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities

Manage and support the administrative and reception teams

Oversee rota planning workload distribution and operational efficiency

Ensure compliance with practice policies HR processes and CQC standards

Support recruitment induction and staff development

Handle patient queries and escalate issues appropriately

Work closely with the Manager and clinical team to support service delivery

Contribute to service improvement and practice development

To step in to cover Operations Manager duties during leave

About us

We are a medium sized practice with two partners and two salaried GPs. We are a training practice with two intakes each year for GP registrars. We have two regular locum GPs. We have a practice nurse a nurse associate and a health care assistant who work together as a nursing team.

  • GCSE English and Maths, grade C or above
  • Management or supervisory
  • Evidence of commitment to continuing professional development
  • Experience of primary care/general practice
  • Senior administrative experience
  • Previous management experience within a GP surgery
  • Management or supervisory experience

Desirable

  • Able to work between 08.00 18.30 full time
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes including absence management appraisals training and performance support
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

  • SystmOne expertise (confident daily user)
