Job summary

Temple Fortune Medical Group is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and forward-thinking GP for 4 sessions per week.

We are a training practice with a well-established multi-disciplinary team, well organised, forward thinking & innovative with an approximate list size of 9,250 patients.

Main duties of the job

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will perform the normal duties of a GP, be committed to providing high-quality evidence-based medicine to our patients, share best practices and provide peer support to others.
  • Competitive salary based on the BMA model.
  • Our clinics are based on a mix of telephone and face-to-face, with patient choice being our main focus.
  • We have a highly trained clinical support team who navigate our patients to the appropriate clinicians and services.

  • Face to Face consultations
  • Telephone consultations
  • Home Visits/ Providing the Practice Duty Doctor role
  • EPS
  • Dealing with queries
  • Lab results Reviewing Docman/Clinical Letters (after workflow optimisation has filtered)
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous I.T. based consultation notes to the agreed practice standards, including read coding Conducting and supporting the practice with audits

Overview of your organisation

We are a well-established GMS practice set in leafy Temple Fortune, close to Hampstead Heath and Hampstead Garden Suburb. We deliver high-quality care to our 9,250 patients in a friendly and supportive environment and are high QOF achievers.

We have weekly clinical meetings to share knowledge and keep up to date, with support for ongoing professional development. The team consists of 2 Partners and 8 Salaried GPs, 2 Nurses, 1 pharmacist, 1 pharmacy assistant, 2 phlebotomists, 2 FCP, 1 social prescriber and a supportive administration team led by an experienced practice manager.

Job description

Job responsibilities

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/herself available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, triage calls, triage visits, checking and signing of repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Respond to medical problems presented by temporary residents as required.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organization.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

To assist in the establishment of appropriate systems to manage common chronic medical conditions.

Completion of clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties needed for the delivery of the service.

Providing counselling and health education.

Refer patients for further opinions and interventions according to Practice protocols.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions wherever possible).

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary whenever this is clinically appropriate.

Participate in training plans of medical students as required.

In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Maintaining, monitoring, and updating computer database and management of medical records and practice audits

Ensure that the practice clinical database is updated promptly and accurately with information relating to patient records, as required for clinical accuracy and for practice recording requirements under QOF and Enhanced Services.

Participating in the collection and collation of statistics for the preparation of practice reports, performance monitoring and audits

Participating in the auditing of practice activity.

PRACTICE ORGANISATION:

Process and action incoming patient and hospital correspondence

Attendance at in-house meetings, significant event audit meetings and others as deemed necessary

Ensure that the practice complaints system is always adhered to

Awareness and compliance with all relevant guidelines e.g. data protection, confidentiality and health and safety

Maintain current CPR and anaphylaxis certification
