Job summary
The successful applicant would be expected to provide nursing services to the practice population with evidence-based, quality-focused care. To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. To ensure clear channels of communication exist between clinical, administrative, and community teams. to project a positive and friendly image of our patients and other professionals.
You will play a vital role in providing exceptional nursing care to our patients, your responsibilities will include conducting patient assessments, administering treatments and vaccinations, managing chronic conditions and collaborating with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients
Working hours: 16 hours per week, split across Monday (7:00 AM 4:00 PM) and Thursday (8:30 AM 5:30 PM), with a one-hour unpaid lunch break each day. Please note: These hours are fixed and non-negotiable
Main duties of the job
Provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education, and advice in line with protocols, guidelines, and the NMC Code of Conduct. Deliver nursing services independently or alongside GPs, working within agreed frameworks. Exercise initiative, acknowledge limitations, and refer appropriately to other health professionals. Stay updated on nursing care developments and adapt practice using evidence-based approaches. Collaborate with colleagues for education, development, and audit.
Essential: Respiratory interest with ability to conduct spirometry, COPD, asthma, diabetic and wound management reviews.
Clinical duties include:
- BP monitoring & venepuncture
- Routine injections (e.g., B12, Zoladex)
- Cervical smears
- Immunisations (child/adult)
- Health checks & weight management
- Ear syringing & assessment
- Family planning (coil/implant support)
- Chronic disease & travel health
- New patient checks
- Phlebotomy
- CVD risk & Q risk assessments
- Referrals (e.g., podiatry, counselling)
- Specimen handling & lab submission
- QoF & coding familiarity
- Treatment room management & safety
- Student education
- Adherence to local policies/protocols
