Job summary

We are looking for a enthusiastic, motivated team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide a high quality phlebotomy service to our patients.

Main duties of the job

  • To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by clinicians, GPs and other health professionals.
  • To collect blood samples safely.
  • To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly, and sent in a timely and correct manner.
  • Esential: Experince workign within a GP surgery setting
  • Desirable : Be able to preform stitch removals, dressing changes, INR checks and give different injections such as B12, flu, shingles etc

About us

We have 2 sites, one at Abbey lane (S80BJ) and the other on Baslow Road (S174DQ). We have a close, friendly team consisting of 25 members of staff. We have weekly clinical meetings and monthly full practice meetings.

Job responsibilities

A successful applicant must be able to:

To collect blood samples from patients through venepuncture as requested by GPs, clinicians and other health professionals.

To collect blood samples safely.

To produce accurate labelling on all samples containers using legible handwriting, ensuring strict attention to detail for the purpose of guaranteeing samples are labelled with correct patient details.

To ensure blood samples are collected in appropriate containers, labelled correctly and sent in a timely and correct manner.

Demonstrate a courteous, sympathetic, compassionate and helpful approach to patients, relatives and visitors at all times.

Has knowledge and understanding of the needs of the patient.

Has undertaken a recognised assessors course for venepuncture.
