Bramhall & Shaw Heath Medical Group are looking for a dedicated, friendly and pro-active Practice Nurse (or trainee) to join our multi-disciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality healthcare services to our local communities in Bramhall and Shaw Heath.
You don't have to be fully trained or an experienced Practice Nurse as we're willing to train and support you through the General Practice Nursing training program.

Main duties of the job
To be fully proficient (either now or with extra support & training) in chronic disease management, hypertension, diabetes, respiratory, CVD, vaccinations & immunisations, cervical screening and contraception / womens health in line with NICE / CQC / NMC Guidelines.
To provide support to the wider nursing and admin team including healthcare assistants, well being coaches, pharmacy staff and GPs.
You will also have shared responsibility for overseeing infection control standards and cold chain supply compliance.

Job responsibilities
- Provide chronic disease management for Diabetes, COPD, Asthma and CHD/CVD
- Perform cervical screening
- Administer adult and paediatric injections and immunisations
- Undertake venepuncture and electrocardiography
- Provide advice on lifestyle issues, assisting and supporting patients in changing their unhealthy behaviors and refer appropriately
- Deliver travel health care including vaccinations and advice for patients
- Recognise the signs of child abuse, family violence, vulnerable adults, substance abuse, addictive behaviors, suicidal tendencies and be aware of local referral procedures
- Work with safeguarding teams where relevant
- Participate in annual appraisal
- Attend clinical and practice meetings
- Ensure that current evidence-based approaches to patient care are standard practice
- Apply infection control measures when collecting and handling of laboratory specimens, disposing of waste materials, dealing with blood and body fluid spillages and report and treat sharps injuries
- Support first aid and management of emergencies, e.g burns, haemorrhages, hypo/hyperglycaemic emergencies and asthma attacks
