Job summary

This is a customer service receptionist role working alongside our friendly practice team. We are a Scunthorpe based GP practice delivering essential general practice services to our patients in the Scunthorpe locality. We have a main surgery site on Ashby Road Scunthorpe and Branch Surgery in the Ironstone Centre West Street Scunthorpe so the position will be across both sites.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a part-time Receptionist to join our friendly team who will be required to provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone. To receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.

Vacancy is for 19 hours per week (Shifts: Mon 13.00-17.30, Tues 08.00-12.30; Wed 13.30-5.30;Fri 07.30-13.30)Plus holiday/sickness cover.

About us

We are a friendly GP practice based in Scunthorpe delivering primary care services to approximately 8,800 patients. Our Main Surgery site is situated on Ashby Road, Scunthorpe (with a Branch Surgery in the Ironstone Centre on West Street, Scunthorpe). Our patients can attend either site for their medical care. We are also a Training Practice, which means we are responsible for the training of qualified doctors who wish to become General Practitioners. Cedar Medical Practice is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. Our practice team are friendly and welcoming, maintain a professional and efficient work ethic and we all work effectively together as a team.

Administration To have a thorough knowledge of all Practice procedures. To work in accordance of written protocols Filing post in medical records as appropriate Photocopy as requested Complete necessary forms for New Patients/Temporary Residents/Immediate and necessary patients as per practice policy Amalgamate and put in chronological order paper medical records received via Health Authority for new patients in preparation for summarising Open and distribute mail as per practice protocol Reception Open premises and unlock all rooms, checking heating and restoring telephone service at appropriate time Answering/diverting telephones using practice protocols and procedures Receiving patients consulting with members of practice team Handing completed repeat prescriptions to patient and checking names and address. Be able to cover all reception positions as necessary Appointments Process appointment requests for today future appointments from patients by telephone and in person. Deal with visits requests as per practice protocol Computer Process repeat prescription requests in accordance with practice guidelines if requested (after training) Scanning all incoming/outgoing correspondence into patients computer records Other Tasks Clear rooms after surgeries Ensure building security have thorough knowledge of doors/windows/alarm and locking of premises as per procedures Leave reception area tidy and ready for incoming colleagues, ensuring information is left regarding unsolved or urgent problems Make coffee for doctors Any other tasks allocated by managers Confidentiality: In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters.
