Job summary

Bay Medical Group are recruiting for registered healthcare professionals to join our vaccination team to support our vaccination programme. This is a bank position and full vaccination training can be provided.

Interview date 12th March 2025.

Main duties of the job

As a Registered Health Care Professional working in immunisations, the post holder will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering a safe and effective service for the delivery of seasonal vaccinations and vaccination schedules. The post holder will undertake activities such as clinical assessment, consent, preparation and administration of vaccines via Patient Group Directives in line with the Green Book online. This can be in clinic or to housebound patients.

In particular the post holder will be responsible for

Conducting clinical assessments and consent.

The review of complex medical histories and potential adverse reactions.

Preparation of the vaccine in line with PGD and guidance

We are fortunate to be a single at scale provider in a distinct geographical area and as such have an establish Primary Care Network (PCN) for Morecambe and Heysham, with Bay Medical Group as the only Practice in the PCN.

MAIN DUTIES

Principal Responsibilities:

Clinical assessment and administration:

o Conduct pre-vaccination clinical assessments to confirm meeting the criteria for safe vaccination, including previous vaccinations undertaken, current health condition, assessment of any clinical conditions (medical history) and allergies.

o Address any potential adverse reaction risks and provide information and advice on any adverse reactions and contra indications.

o Address any concerns that may arise regarding the vaccine and contra-indications with patients.

o Ensure understanding of the vaccination implications and get consent agreement on vaccination.

o Ensure vaccine preparation as per the standard operating procedure (SOP).

o Perform a visual check of the vaccine type, serial number and expiry date.

o Ensure accurate recording of required vaccine stocks, replenishment of consumables, PPE and sanitisation materials.

Work with team to maintain high standards of infection control in the clinical area and a well-maintained environment.

Actively promote diversity and sustain relationships that promote dignity, rights and responsibilities. Identify and take action to address discrimination and oppression.

Ensure that the practice complies with Data Protection/ Confidentiality/ Caldicott principles in addition to Statutory and Regulatory guidelines of the Professional Bodies (NMC, GPhC, HCPC and others)

Safeguard people by recognising and responding when an adult or child might be at risk from abuse but also recognising their own limits and asking for help and escalate concerns when necessary.

Reflect on everyday practice to identify areas where improvements in safety or quality can be made.
