Job summary

The Elms Surgery is looking to recruit a flexible, motivated and committed GP to join our friendly practice for 4-6 sessions per week. Informal visits are welcomed.

Main duties of the job

With respect to practice rotas, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of practice duties, including face to face consultations, telephone consultations and home/care home visiting(rare). We would expect duties such like actioning bloods, tasks, checking and signing EPS repeat prescriptions and PA scripts, dealing with queries to be part of the day to day schedule.

About us

The Elms Surgery is a medium sized practice located in Nascot Village/Cassiobury area of Central Watford. The practice looks after almost 9000 patients and is part of the Central Watford PCN and uses EMIS Clinical System. As well as the excellent road and rail commuter links there are many outstanding schools nearby, both Primary and Secondary, including Watford Boys and Girls Grammar.

We have a happy, established team that consists of GPs, Physician Associates, Nursing team and supportive Admin and Reception teams.

Job description

Job responsibilities

With respect to practice rotas, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of practice duties, including face to face consultations, telephone consultations and home/care home visiting(rare).   • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
  • Developing care plans for patients with long term conditions
  • Providing counselling and health education
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary and working to ICB guidelines.
  • Supporting/supervising Physician Associates when required ensure smooth running of the practice
  • Manage and Support ongoing palliative care and elderly care case loads.
