Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic HCA to join our partnership, on a band 3 payscale (pro rata for part time employees)

We are a two partner practice supported by a management and administration team.

You will work within our lovely nursing team that work across both our Bakewell and Tideswell surgeries. Our surgeries have around 9,000 patients and are both set in lovely rural locations.

We require a person with a friendly approach, who has experience of HCA work in general practice.

The applicant will work closely with our Nursing Teams, Community Matron, and other clinical teams.

You will hold your own clinics.

Main duties of the job

Be friendly and approachable, work well as part of a team, but also be able to work alone.

You will have compassion and empathy

Be able to undertake home visits

Be willing to learn new skills in a quickly changing environment

Phlebotomy

Annual reviews

BP checks

Height/weight

Lifestyle advise

diabetic foot checks

INR testing

B12 injections

partake in Pneumococcal/RSV/Flu vaccine clinics

About us

Our nursing team consists of a Lead Nurse, 2 Practice Nurses, 2 HCAs, and a Nurse Associate We are looking to expand this team due to internal promotion of our Trainee Associate and an expanding demand

There are opportunities for further training should that be required

Job description

Job responsibilities

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and responsibilities:

New patient health checks

ECG recording

Phlebotomy

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation

Clearing and re-stocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients health and well-being

Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being
