Job summary
Saxonbrook Medical is made up of a team of healthcare professionals dedicated to providing a high quality patient centered service to our 20,000 patients.
We have extensive experience in employing Physician Associates over many years and also support PA Students regularly.
The post holder will work autonomously undertaking assessment and treatment of patients presenting with Acute or Chronic illness and determine a clinical diagnosis and treatment.
They will ensure a high quality patient centeredservice is delivered face to face and via the telephone.

Main duties of the job
Taking a history from the patient, performing physical examinations and making appropriate assessments to determine diagnosis and treatment plans.
Demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision making process, including assessment and diagnostic skills, leading to the delivery of safe care for patients.
Working collaboratively with the clinical and non clinical teams to meet the needs o the patients and supporting with the delivery of policy and procedures.
Take part in Clinical, Clinical Governance meetings and teaching sessions. Proactively taking part in discussions and sharing learning with the wider team.

Saxonbrook is a 2 site surgery delivery care to a patient population of 20,000. Our team is made up of 2 Partners, Salaried GP's, Physician Associates, Paramedics, Practice Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Administrators and Patient Services Advisors all supported by our Management Team.
We pride ourselves on being a forward thinking Practice who think outside of the box and have worked on new ways to try and deliver our service to our patients in an efficient and effective way.
We work closely with other Allied health professionals such as First Contact Practitioners, Pharmacists and Social Prescribers.

Job responsibilities
1.
Take a history from a patient, perform
a physical examination and make an appropriate assessment and diagnosis;
initiate, review and revise treatment and therapy plans, recording and
presenting pertinent findings in a manner consistent with practice procedures.
2.
Arrange for laboratory and radiology
procedures, screening and other therapeutic activities including therapeutic
diets, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, as well as nursing services.
3.
Inform and counsel patients regarding
matters pertaining to their physical and mental health. This may include topics such as medication,
diet, social habits, family planning, normal growth, development and ageing,
aiming to promote their understanding of long term management of their disease,
thereby ensuring compliance to clinical guidelines.
4.
Where needed to arrange admissions,
preparing appropriate referral documentation, or to facilitate continuing care
in the community through the provision of services from available community
resources, including statutory and voluntary organisations.
5.
Perform minor procedures which are
typically performed under local anaesthetic, subject to verification of
training to perform the procedure.
6.
Assist in the clinical and administrative
processes that are required to ensure the smooth running of the Practice and to
enable it to meet the various quality standards that are expected of it.
7.
Perform audit, research and analysis
tasks associated with practice activities.
8.
Assist in clinical teaching and
supervision of peers, colleagues, and students, as well as participate in the
practice education programme.
9.
Ensure good working relationships with
all members of the multidisciplinary primary healthcare team.
10.
Keep up to date with medical research
technology and related issues; ensuring such training and development meets
clinical governance guidelines for Continuing Professional Development and a
Personal Development Plan.
11.
Undertake other activities where needed
that are within the post holders clinical competence and which would not
otherwise jeopardise the delivery of primary medical services to patients.
12.
Register and undertake continuing
medical education/examinations to maintain ongoing certification on the UK
Physician Associate Voluntary Register, or with NCCPA (National Commission of
Certification of Physician Associates), or equivalent.
