Job summary

We are a friendly training practice of approx 21,000 patients, rated GOOD by CQC. We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and flexible person to join our dedicated nursing team at London Road Surgery for 37.5 hours per week.

Our ideal candidate must be a qualified RGN with excellent people skills.

We would prefer Primary Care experience as this will be a substantive role within the senior management team, however, we would consider Secondary Care experience for the right candidate as training will be provided.

Ideally, the candidate will have a speciality in Asthma, COPD or Diabetes and have a good knowledge of wound care. A prescribing qualification is not essential to this role but certainly desirable.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the nursing team.

As part of your role, you will be required to assist with rota management, appraisals, infection control, and general Treatment Room tasks. You will be required to audit, monitor and provide regular updates on QOF and team performance. Experience in team leadership would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

The Senior Practice Nurse will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the practice nursing team.

The Senior Practice Nurse will be responsible for several clinical areas such asinfection prevention and control, health promotion, chronic disease management, health prevention, well women and well-man clinics, as well as supporting the practicemanagement team in the reviewing and delivery of clinical policy and procedure.

The Senior Practice Nurse will be responsible for the implementation of processes for the effective management of patients with long-term conditions using evidence-based practice including care for elderly and housebound patients.

The Senior Practice Nurse will have a key role in the delivery of QOF, IIF and other targets.The Senior Practice Nurse will be responsible for delivering targeted achievements including audits, monitoring and will be required to provide regular updates on team performance.

Working as a senior member of the practice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will ensure nursing services are delivered effectively to the entitled patient population.

London Road Surgery will ensure that the post holder has access to appropriate clinical supervision and an appropriate named individual in the organisation to provide general advice and support on a day-to-day basis.

London Road Surgery is a friendly, successful practice based in Bedford. We are a 10-partnership practice. We have a team of 4 nurses and 3 HCAs, 3 Urgent Care Clinicians and a strong admin & reception team. To complete our team we have two full-time Joint Practice Managers.
