Job summary

Working under the clinical leadership of the Clinical Research Lead GP Partner, this is a unique and exciting senior leadership role providing clinicalexpertiseand strategic oversight across both our thriving Mereside commercial research portfolio and the NIHR Greater Cambridge & Suffolk Commercial Research Delivery Centre (PC-CRDC).

Main duties of the job

You will work as a peer alongside the Clinical Research Portfolio Manager, with both roles operating as equals within the senior research leadership team. This collaborative partnership is essential to ensuring seamless integration between CRDC activities and Mereside portfolio delivery. Together, you will provide complementary leadership your clinical expertise combined with the Portfolio Manager's operational and strategic coordination to drive excellence across both the CRDC network and our local research programme.

Your focus will be flexibly divided with approximately 75% of your time leading clinical aspects of the PC-CRDC and approximately 25% providing clinical oversight of Mereside's own research portfolio, though these allocations will adapt to organisational needs. You will represent Mereside Medical and the PC-CRDC at regional and national research network meetings, working with NIHR, CRDC UK, pharmaceutical sponsors, and research partners. You will engage proactively with PC-CRDC member sites across Greater Cambridge and Suffolk to develop their capacity and capability to deliver high-quality commercial research. You will play a key role in facilitating the integration of commercial research across settings.

You will be at the forefront of developing and managing your team's performance, ensuring that tasks are completed with precision and efficiency. You will actively promote innovation and embed new ways of working to enhance service quality.

Mereside Medical is a flourishing group of three East Cambridgeshire practices in Ely, Haddenham and Soham, together serving c.45,000 patients. As a group,wevegrown rapidly and now employ more than 170 people across the three practices.   • Lead the development and implementation of clinical capacity building initiatives across the network, including training programmes, mentorship schemes, and quality assurance frameworks

  • Lead clinical team to deliver trials on time and target, adhering to ICH-GCP and all required compliance standards
