Job summary

Ancora Medical Practice are seeking to employ a fully qualified HCA to work across both sites.

The hours of work will be Monday 8am to 6pm and Friday 8am to 6pm with an opportunity for sickness and holiday cover and Saturday overtime.

For this interesting and varied job you will need to be proactive, well organised and hard working.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities & Main Activities

Clinical

B.P. monitoring

Urinalysis

Phlebotomy

Chaperoning

Assist with childhood and adolescent immunisations maintaining any Child Health and Practice records

Assist clinicians with minor ops including vasectomies, as required

Perform ECGs, Heights and Weights

Provide lifestyle advice to the patients making any necessary referrals within the practice

Ensure specimens are labelled and bagged ready for collection with the necessary paperwork completed

Ensure sharps bins are ready for collection

Assist in clinic sessions as directed by members of the nursing and medical staff ensuring that all equipment is clean following clinic sessions.

Ensure that the drug refrigerator is at correct temperature on a daily basis and drugs are within their expiry dates and used in correct sequence. Order drugs and other supplies as directed ensuring that adequate levels of stock are available in the surgery. Maintain the cold chain when drugs are delivered to the surgery.

Restocking/maintenance of equipment

Test over the counter urine samples as required

Restocking of clinical areas and consulting rooms

Ensure that the clinical rooms are at all times kept in a clean and orderly manner and that relevant equipment is ready for use by nursing and medical staff during clinic sessions.

To perform diabetic foot assessments once appropriate training received.

To perform health checks as required.

Job Summary

To be a member of the practice based nursing team. You will provide high quality care to the practice population. You will be supervised by members of the nursing and medical team, at all times working to your job description and within your capabilities.

To assist medical personnel in the care of practice patients, to include treatment, preventative care, chaperoning, screening and patient education.

The post will also include some administrative duties/tasks.

Perform new patient registration interviews, including registration onto SystmOne, completing any necessary paperwork.

Administration and Professional Responsibilities

Participate in the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team

Ensure accurate and legible notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients notes

Ensure the clinical computer system is kept up to date with accurate details recorded

Ensure accurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient health care and registration with the practice.

Ensure total familiarity with all appointment systems including regular and incidental variations;

Book appointments and recalls ensuring sufficient information is recorded to enable retrieval of the medical record by the most appropriate clinician

Monitor effectiveness of the system and report any problems or variations to the Practice Administrator

Ensure collection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular and ad hoc reports

Attend and participate in practice meetings as required

Assist in formulation of practice philosophy, strategy and policy

To assist in seasonal and special projects as requested e.g. flu campaign

Ordering and display of Health Promotion materials

Process pathology and general health care tasks

Maintain waiting lists, QOF lists and recall lists

Assist with stock take

Any other delegated duties considered appropriate to the post

An understanding, acceptance and adherence to the need for strict confidentiality;

An ability to use own judgement, resourcefulness, common sense and local knowledge, to respond to patients enquiries and requests while adhering to Practice limitations;
