An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Bolton Community Practice team. We are a busy GP surgery with four sites across Bolton delivering GP services to a population of over 15,000 patient's. We are an EMIS Web practice. Applicants must be flexible to cover annual leave and sickness when necessary.
We currently have 2 positions available for full time Receptionists and will be moving in to the new Horwich Health & Wellbeing Hub in September 2024.
Receptionist One
Hours of work will be:
Monday: 08:00 - 16:00
Tuesday: 08:00 - 16:00
Wednesday: 10:30 - 18:30
Thursday: 08:00 - 16:00
Friday: 10:30 - 18:30
Receptionist Two
Hours of work will be:
Monday: 10:30 - 18:30
Tuesday: 08:00 - 16:00
Wednesday: 08:00 - 16:00
Thursday: 10:30 - 18:30
Friday: 10:30 - 18:30
The successful candidates will be required to work Saturday mornings 09:00 - 13:00 on a rota basis at our Astley-Dale Branch, Waters Meeting Health Centre.
Main duties of the job
Responsibilities include: Responsibility for providing first-line contact for patients on behalf of the practice and dealing with their requests in a courteous and efficient manner, Contribute to the delivery of a range of services for patients, Handling inbound and outbound calls to patients and other health care services, Booking appointments, Referrals, New patient registrations, Processing prescriptions, Summarising / read coding, Handling incoming and outgoing mail.

- Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
- Job Responsibilities: Reception, Answering telephone calls and dealing with face to face enquiries. Politely greeting patients and visitors to the surgery. Scheduling appointments for patients. Checking patients in. Dealing with all requests in an efficient and courteous manner. Screening enquiries for the doctors and medical staff. Registering new patients at the surgery. Explaining the practice procedures to new patients. Accurately collecting information and personal details about patients. Updating the surgeries computer system with appointments and personal details. Receiving urine and blood samples and sending them off to hospital laboratories. Chasing up appointments for patients with hospitals or with other healthcare professionals. Contacting patients to pass on test results /messages to patients as instructed by medical professionals. Arranging prescriptions for patients. Maintaining a clean reception and waiting area to show a professional image. Opening post, scanning and forwarding it onto the relevant parties. Writing letters and correspondence on behalf of the surgery and medical staff. Opening and locking up the surgery. Covering colleagues during times of annual leave.
