Job summary

**Job to commence: August 2026**

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, up to date, conscientious doctor, preferably a flexible team player, keen to be involved in all clinical activity within the practice but who will not have administrative responsibility for the running of the practice e.g. staff, finance etc. An interest in the health of young people is essential.

We are an atypical practice serving a patient population with unique characteristics.

The practice is located in purpose built premises, constructed in 2005 on the university campus. We currently have free parking. The practice uses the SystmOne clinical system and encourages IT developments that make life easier.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for delivering comprehensive, patient-centred care. Assessing, diagnosing and treating a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions. To provide treatment and preventive care, prescribing medication and managing long-term conditions.

To co-ordinate patient care by referring individuals to secondary or specialist services when required, undertake home visits where appropriate, maintaining accurate medical records, and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective care for the practice patients.

The role requires strong clinical judgement, effective communication, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.

Interests in sexual health, family planning, sports medicine, tropical medicine, psychological medicine and health education would be useful but not essential.

About us

We are an independent GP practice, situated on the campus of the University of East Anglia about 4 miles to the West of Norwich centre. As well as being a PMS practice offering all normal NHS requirements, we provide many additional services to the university. We are a member of Central Norwich PCN and have attached staff also provide support/services to our patients.

List Size: Current list size averages 20000 patients. Demand varies considerably across the academic year. Our patients are all associated with the university when they register; mainly students (65% of list). We also have ex-students who still live in the area, members of university staff, local hospital and research park and their families and many overseas students.

High Turnover:Up to 4,000 patients are registered in Sept/Oct each year. Most patients attend 3-4 year courses and leave after that time.

Youth:Our population is largely free from untreatable chronic or degenerative disease, yet this is a time when major psychological and physical disease often presents. It is rewarding to know that our effective early intervention can produce long term benefits. Majority of patients are between 18-35 years and only 0.5% of patients are aged 65+

Multi-cultural:We treat patients from all over the world with a wide variety of cultures. About 35% of patients are international students.
