Job summary

Swiss Cottage GP Surgery is a well-established NHS GP surgery in Camden with 20,500 registered patients. We are two friendly, supportive, training practices that have a record of good performance against local and national requirements, as well as a committed multi-professional team. We currently use the Emis Web clinical system.

This is a full time position (37.5 hours) working during our opening hours 07:45-18:30 Monday to Friday. We also offer extended hours on a Saturday 09:00-14:00. The salary will depend on the skills and experience of the candidate.

For immediate start.

Applicants must have the right to work in the EU as we are unable to provide sponsorship or assistance.

Employment subject to a standard DBS check.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have and be able to demonstrate:

- Good customer service skills. Previous NHS GP Practice experience is desirable but not essential;

- Friendly and approachable manner;

- Experience of working in a team;

- Good telephone manner;

- Adept in using own initiative when working alone;

- Experience working in a busy environment;

- The ability to multitask and prioritise effectively whilst staying calm under pressure;

- Has a good understanding of confidentiality;

- Flexibility in working pattern and duties;

- Ability to cope with and manage change;

- Computer literate. EmisWeb familiarity is desirable but training will be provided.

To assist in the day-to-day running of our reception, representing the Practice and its values centred on patient care. You will be the first point of contact, welcoming all who come in to use services at the Practice and sign-posting users of the service and visitors appropriately.

To manage all face to face and telephone contacts in a professional and courteous manner, and to assist patients to access the most appropriate healthcare professional, directing them and assisting them as appropriate

  • - Good level of education to GCSE standard or equivalent (particularly English and Maths);
  • - Computer literate with excellent keyboard skills;
  • - Self-starter, able to work on own initiative, following set procedures and protocols;
  • - Experience of working with general public;
  • - An enquiring mind with a willingness to learn new skills and procedures;
  • - Ability to organise own tasks and work systematically;
  • - Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
  • - Excellent communicator both verbally and written demonstrated with people at all levels and in all circumstances;
  • - Ability to respect confidentiality at all times;
  • - Demonstrate an understanding and commitment to good standards of patient care;
  • - Enjoys working as part of a Primary Care Team;
