Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be an integral
member of the team and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care
setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all patients. We are a close and supportive team of clinicians. so the fundamental requirement is for a team-based GP who
cares about others. Clinical Responsibilities will include
a variety of duties including face to face and telephone consultations and visiting
patients at home. We make excellent use of care navigated Patient Triage using EConsult. The post holder will be expected to undertake all the
normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary
care including a share of the duty doctor rota, occasional Saturday clinics and support of junior doctors, PA's, ARRS staff and other allied health professionals. support each other throughout the day. We are a large modern training practice,
working from two sites in a beautiful part of the country. We are members of a
Pendle East PCN, comprising 5 GP practices and a rapidly expanding range of
additional roles.
We
have twice been awarded RCGP Quality Practice Award and we strive to maintain
high standards in everything that we do. Our team comprises 3 partners and 9 associate GPs, a Business Manager and extensive back office support.3 PA's and a large nursing team led by a lead nurse. The clinical team are actively
engaged in all aspects of clinical, teaching and research developments. We
explore dynamic progression from Associate to Partner on an individual basis. The practice has a superb key strength in its supporting admin and management team, with years of experience, who proactively deliver great, consistent back office success.
The

- Taking part in the additional hours rota,
which will include occasional Saturday mornings (currently 1 in10).
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in
relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from
other health care workers within the organisation
- Assessing the health care needs of patients
with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
- Screening patients for disease risk factors
and early signs of illness
- In consultation with patients and in line with
current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for
health
- Providing counselling and health education
- Admitting or discharging patients to and from
the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and contemporaneous
consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute
and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever
possible)
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice
prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically
appropriate
