Assistant to join a friendly and busy GP Practice.
Previous experience in phlebotomy is
preferred, however training would be provided to a suitable
candidate.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will work collaboratively
with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the
delivery of policy and procedures whilst managing their own workload to deliver the practice
priorities. Clinically, the focus of the
role is to undertake COVID
vaccinations and then be able to support clinical activities within the
clinical team as requested. Eg. ECGs, health checks, Phlebotomy, dressings and wound care
etc, as delegated by the practice nurse on duty and according to training and
competencies. The role will also be evolving as the balance of care shifts from
hospital to general practice.
Undertake
Phlebotomy for individual patients.
Undertake
screening and diagnostic procedures, promoting and being involved in Health
Education activity e.g. height, weight, BP.
Processing
of samples e.g. urine.
Administer
First Aid.
Receive
and refer patients to trained nurses when appropriate
Understand
and adhere to the Policies and Procedures of the Practice
Update
the computer by coding activities appropriately and at the time of the
consultation using templates where appropriate.
Comply with computer-based information requirements
Ensure
all items of equipment are maintained in good order, and ensure that all
procedures for reporting hazards or unsafe equipment are known, understood and
carried out by all staff in the nursing team
Participate
in a duty rota system within the clinical team to ensure the service
requirements are met
About us
The current
list size of Danetre Medical Practice is approximately 12,800. Any increase
over the last ten years has been due mainly to; natural change (more births
than deaths); building development within Daventry itself and more recently
migration from the rest of the UK
and overseas. The boundaries of the Practice show we are large in terms of
geographical size, with the majority of the land classified as rural.
The
practice itself is located in close proximity to Daventry Town centre in a
modern building adjoining Danetre Hospital (a community hospital which opened
in September 2006) offering a wide range of services and delivering a high
standard of care. Also attached to the Practice operating independently is
Boots Chemist.
Currently the practice works with 5 x GP
partners, 1 x Managing Partner, 4 x salaried GPs, 3 x Practitioners, 2 x
Clinical Pharmacists and over 250Hrs of Clinical nursing support.
