Job summary
Southwell Medical Centre has a part-time, up to full time, opportunity for reception/care navigation role. Ideally we would like to recruit people with experience in working in a GP Practice to join our large friendly, practice team.
This role is pivotal in the practice to ensure great communication and care navigation for patients. We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills, both face to face and on the telephone are essential with the ability to work under pressure in a very demanding patient focused position.
The position is a part time receptionist/care navigator for part time up to full time between 08.00 - 18.30 hours Monday to Friday.
There is the availability of occasional Saturday working.
Suitable candidates will be expected to be available for both mornings and afternoons and for sickness and holiday cover.
Some experience of working in a GP surgery is essential, the reception team offer general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone
Main duties of the job
- Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointment system
- Processing personal and telephone requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations, and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional
- Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail
- maintaining security in accordance with practice protocols
- Taking messages and passing on information
- Filing and retrieving paperwork
- Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines
- Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedure
- Initiating contact with and responding to requests from patients, other team members and associated healthcare agencies and providers
- Providing clerical assistance to practice staff as required from time to time, including word/data processing, filing, photocopying and scanning
- Dealing with clinical waste
- Keeping the reception area, notice boards and leaflet dispensers tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Take action as directed by other team members
- Follow practice protocols to ensure consistent and high quality care is provided to our patients
- Carry out administrative tasks relating to patient records, including filing, document management and ensuring patients can access reports, prescriptions and that they are easily accessible
About us
We are a large practice based in the Minster town of Southwell, located next door to the Co-operative supermarket.
We have four GP partners, two salaried GPs, ACP, ANP, 3 practice nurses, HCAs and a Phlebotomist. Along with an exceptional reception/care navigator team, Secretarial and Admin team, Practice Manager and Deputy. We are also a dispensing practice.
We are a training practice and mentor Registrars at various stages of their training towards becoming a fully qualified GP.
