Main duties of the job
Clinical Support:

Taking and recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)

Performing phlebotomy (blood taking), if trained

Carrying out ECGs

Assisting with wound care and dressing changes

Administering vaccines or injections (if qualified and under PSD)

Health Promotion & Screening:

Conducting NHS Health Checks

Assisting in chronic disease reviews (e.g., diabetes, asthma checks)

Measuring height, weight, BMI, and urinalysis

Offering lifestyle advice (e.g., smoking cessation, diet, exercise)

Administrative Duties:

Updating patient records (e.g., observations, procedures)

Preparing clinical rooms and maintaining infection control

Working under the supervision of registered healthcare professionals, the HCA assists with clinical duties, health promotion, and administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the practice.
