Job summary

We are looking to recruit a 4-session salaried GP on a fixed term contract until 31.03.2025 in line with NHS England guidance for the recruitment of GPs funded by the Additional Roles Reimbursement GP Recruitment Scheme:

  1. Applicants must not have been substantively employed as a GP in a general medical practice previously.
  2. The GP can not be beyond their 2nd anniversary of certificate of completion of training, issued by the GMC, at the start of their employment.

We are looking for an enthusiastic & dedicated GP to join our team. We are an outstanding teaching practice and received commendation from the University of Liverpool due to the level of teaching provided, & this role would be ideally suited to a doctor who has recently completed their CCT.

Whitby Health Partnership is a long established GMS Practice, with a list size in excess of 16,100 patients. We achieve consistently high QOF, KPI targets and maintain a good CQC rating.

We maintain a strong commitment to GP training & medical students, leading & developing change in the local healthcare community and fully engage with our colleagues across our PCN, One Ellesmere Port.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work within an evolving innovative and forward facing clinical model for general practice, working autonomously alongside our welcoming and supportive Nursing and Administration team. An excellent opportunity to develop skills and broaden experience within this proactive forward-thinking surgery.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be expected to undertake all the normal day to day duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.

Normal duties include;

  • Mixed-media (telephone, F2F) sessions for patient contact, both same day and LTC/planned care where appropriate
  • Visiting patients at home
  • Ordering repeat prescriptions
  • Manage pathology results for tests generated through patient contacts in a shared capacity with all other doctors.
  • Support the triage process for all patient-led demand
  • Contribute to clinical admin including evaluating, actioning and processing hospital correspondence and results. This includes ordering appropriate tests and ensuring safety netting and follow up. You will contact the patient to complete tasks where this is required.
  • Pay attention to appropriate coding, note keeping and flagging of any system issues as they arise
  • Raise safeguarding concerns with named leads where appropriate
  • Making onward referrals
  • Awareness of and compliance with practice policies/guidelines, including but not restricted to data protection, QOF, health and safety and prescribing.
  • Attending training, Meetings and events organised by the practice or other agencies, when appropriate
