Job summary

We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic, and dedicated Healthcare Assistant with experience of working within a general practice environment to join our busy and friendly team. Ideally you will have the HCA skills for the Primary Care environment including competency in phlebotomy and working with patients with long term conditions. Applicants will work under direct supervision of GPs and Practice Nurses. The ideal candidate will be working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols. The HCA will support the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of quality health and care services.

Main duties of the job

  • The successful candidate must be able to display a basic level of computer literacy including the ability to use emails.
  • Be Accurate and contemporaneous record keeping of all patient contact using appropriate templates and read coding.
  • To assist with the patients duties as required and support other
  • The post holder will work under the supervision of a named clinical or nurse lead, providing patient care.
  • To assist with the patient duties as required and support the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of quality health and care services.

  • Venepuncture
  • ECG's
  • Urinalysis
  • Peak flow rates
  • Would Care
  • Removal of sutures and clips
  • Smoking cessation
  • NHS health checks
  • Administer flu/pneumococcal vaccines under (PSD)
  • Administer B12 injections under (PSD)
  • Spirometry/reversibility under PSD
  • Chronic disease management as applicable
  • Assist with minor ops
  • Recognise changes and abnormalities in patients conditions and act accordingly-notifying GP/nurse of any signficiant patient issues
  • Stock control and ordering
  • Fridge temperature recording
  • Follow infection control guidlines
