Job summary
We
are looking for a salaried GP to join our modern, high-achieving friendly GP
Training Practice, offering progressive general practice in a village setting. We actively encourage special interests
within our clinical team and are always open to new ideas and ways of working. We would specially welcome a GP who is or
would like to become an Educational Supervisor or Clinical Supervisor.
The
role is to work 4 to 6 sessions per week with a starting salary dependent on
experience per session per annum, dependant on experience
The
workload is well managed and the GPs are supported by an excellent clinical and
clerical support team resulting in a well run practice, a manageable work life
and a healthy work life balance.
We are located at the heart of Wingerworth
village. The practice premises are very
modern and spacious, providing an excellent working environment. As a training practice, we are very focused
and organised with continuous training and development opportunities for
successful applicants to contribute to the development of the next generation
of GPs

Main duties of the job
The
main working week will be a mix of urgent and routine / online bookable
appointments, both telephone and face to face with appointments being 15
minutes duration with a morning and evening clinic having the maximum of 15
appointment per session, with scheduled tea
breaks morning and afternoon to facilitate wellbeing and teambuilding. Time is
protected for debriefing registrars. The
majority of home visits are carried out by Team Up, though we pride ourselves
on offering continuity and high quality home based palliative care.

vast majority of patients residing in Wingerworth, Old Tupton and New Tupton. We
are committed to working in a supportive and courteous manner in partnership
with our patients.
We
are a Training Practice hosting 4 Registrars at any one time. The team consists of a GP Partner, Salaried
GP's, Pharmacists, LTC Nurse, Nursing Associate, HCAs, as well as a full
complement of admin staff.

Job responsibilities
- Provide the full range of NHS Primary Medical Services to the patients registered at the practice, temporary residents and patients presenting for immediately necessary treatment including clinical examination, diagnosis, treatment and referral as appropriate.
- Participate in Enhances Service delivery.
- Be personally accountable for professional and ethical actions and practices within a legal and ethical framework that adheres to the GMC's requirements and local policies and procedures.
- Maintain confidentiality, while communicating patient information in such a way that preserves the dignity and privacy of the patient and the patient's family and carers.
- Work in a non-judgemental anti-discriminatory way with regard to the cultural and religious beliefs of individuals, groups, people with disabilities and learning difficulties to communicate with the patients and carers understanding their care within the service.
- Ensure that prior to any course of action involving individuals/groups, their informed consent or other valid authority has been obtained.
- The post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including face to face consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home, checking, and signing repeat prescription, including EPS, and correspondence in a timely manner.
- Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
- Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
- Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
- In consultation with patients and in-line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

- Referring to other care providers as appropriate
- Recording clear and accurate consultation notes using the practice electronic clinic system, also using the Ardens and QOF templates.
- Collecting data for audit purposes
- Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
- Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
- In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care
