Job summary
We are currently advertising a new post for Wingerworth Medical Centre for a Healthcare Assistant to support our nursing team, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to our practice population.
The Healthcare Assistant will deliver and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.
Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities, but not confined to:
New patient health checks and NHS checks
Venepuncture and the taking and preparing of pathology samples
24 hour BP monitoring
Undertake wound care
Flu vaccinations, B12, Shingles, pneumonia vaccines under PSD.
Carry out ECG's as requested
Carry out spirometry
Annual health check part 1 for Learning Disability patients
Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.
Ensure fridges are monitored and recorded twice daily and cleaned in accordance with guidance.
Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with IPC policy.
Ensure clinical waste collections run smoothly, reporting any problems to the Practice Manager.
Complete administrative duties as required.
To complete mandatory training online and face to face as required.
To attend staff meetings
The inputting of information onto the practice clinical system.
Helping raise awareness of health and wellbeing and how it can be promoted.
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oxitry, blood pressure, temperature. Calculate weight and height measurements, calculate BMI and blood sugar levels, recording findings accurately onto our clinical system.
Using QOF templates.

We are a Training Practice with up to 4 Registrars at any one time. The team consists of a GP Partner, Salaried GP's, Nurse Prescriber, Nursing Associate, Treatment Room Nurse and Phlebotomist.
We have a CQC rating of Good, use SystemOne clinical software and are part of South Hardwick PCN.
We achieved Gold in Pride in Practice and RCGP Active Practice.
