Are you an experienced manager looking for an exciting
opportunity to expand your skills in a large multi-site Dispensing Practice?
As part of our succession plan we are looking for a dynamic
and resourceful manager with strong people skills to work with our Business
Manager to lead the practice and be instrumental in its future growth.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate robust
leadership, HR and communication skills, be personally well organised, highly
motivated and financially astute. You
will need the ability to deal with multiple tasks and work well under pressure
in addition to managing change for the practice and building relationships
within our locality.
We have a large team of dedicated staff so your
interpersonal skills will need to be of the highest level, you will be team
focused and empathetic and have the ability to foster excellent teamwork.
Main duties of the job
Provide leadership and management to enable the practice to meet its
agreed aims and objectives within a profitable, efficient, safe and effective
working environment.
Play a pivotal role in the effective delivery of high quality
services, ensuring the practice is safely run on a day to day basis
incorporating good governance and a patient focused service.
About us
Brampton Medical Practice is a well-established and
successful Dispensing practice operating from 4 sites in the beautiful Cumbrian
countryside of the North Pennines and Eden valley close to Carlisle and within
easy reach of the Lake District, Borders and Northumberland.
We have around 16,800 patients and Dispense to over
12,000. We form the larger part of one
of the smallest 2 practice PCNs in England but we still have a good mix of
ARRS roles including Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Mental Health Worker and Care
coordinators together with a specialist Frailty Team.
We have 6 GP partners, 6 Salaried GPs, 2 advanced
practitioners and excellent nursing and administration teams. You would be supported by a team lead
structure as well as Finance, HR and operations team members.
Using a multi-disciplinary approach including community
nursing, mental health teams, adult social care and third sector
representatives we are focussed on patient care as well as delivery of a wide
range of services to our largely rural population covering over 300 sq miles.
We have been a training practice for many years and
facilitate both GP and Nurse training opportunities.

Strategic
management and planning
Contribute to practice strategy; formulate
objectives, keep abreast of current affairs, identify future threats and
develop ideas for future practice development.
Monitor and evaluate performance of the
patient services teams against practice objectives ensuring efficiency and
quality of service.
Develop and maintain effective communication
both within the practice and with relevant outside agencies
Assist the practice in the wider
community, forging links with other practices across the local healthcare
system and working collaboratively within the Primary Care Network (PCN).
Financial
Management
Working with the practice Business and
Finance Managers:-
Ensure sound financial controls are
consistently in place and followed.
Manage devolved practice budgets and seek
to maximise efficiency and income.
Contribute to the annual budgeting and
monitoring process preparing financial plans for areas of responsibility.
Human resources
Keep abreast of employment legislation to ensure
practice people policies meet statutory and legal obligations.
Lead on the recruitment, selection and
retention of staff to manage staffing levels and skill mix within target
budgets.
Evaluate, organise and oversee staff induction and
training, and ensure that staff are adequately trained to fulfil their role.
Practice lead for Protected Learning Time (PLT)
Develop and implement effective staff appraisal and
monitoring systems
Support and mentor staff in patient services teams,
both as individuals and as team members
Implement effective systems for the resolution of
disputes and grievances
Operational lead for effective discipline and
performance management.
Lead on management of sick absence in the practice.
Take an active role in the development of
the PCN service delivery including recruitment and retention of additional
roles in line with PCN budget.

management of patient services
Ensure service development and delivery is in accordance with local and
national guidelines as well as meeting practice targets
Ensure that the practice complies with NHS
contractual obligations in relation to patient care and information governance.
Maintain registration policies and monitor patient

Oversee and/or develop and manage an effective
appointments system including organising surgery timetables, duty rotas and
holiday cover.
Routinely monitor and assess practice performance
against patient access and demand management targets.
Develop and implement an effective complaints
management system dealing with enquiries and complaints from patients
effectively and efficiently to promote patient satisfaction.
Significant event reporting and management.
Support the management of the Patient Participation
