An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our busy GP Practices: New Seaham Medical Group and Blackhall and Peterlee Practice.
We offer a friendly and supportive working environment, providing care to our local community. Our practices are open Monday to Friday, 08:0018:00, with extended access on Monday evenings until 20:00 and Thursday mornings from 07:00, giving you the chance to work as part of a dedicated team across varied hours
Main duties of the job
Our ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, committed, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in primary care and familiarity with SystmOne and Microsoft Office is desirable, but training will be provided.
Key responsibilities include:

Provide an efficient and welcoming service to patients and visitors at the practice.

Care navigation: direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional and manage appointment bookings.

Offer general assistance to the practice team, both clinical and non-clinical.

Cover front desk reception as required.

- Welcome patients and visitors to the practice, providing a professional and friendly reception service.
- Manage appointments: booking, rearranging, and maintaining the practice appointment system.
- Care navigation: signpost patients to the most appropriate service, internally or externally.
- Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new or follow-up appointments.
- Action medication queries, including repeat prescriptions and online requests.
- Chaperone patients as required.
- Ensure all tasks, correspondence, reports, and results are completed promptly and accurately.
- Maintain and update patient records using SystmOne, ensuring accuracy and correct coding (Read/SNOMED).
- Assist clinical and administrative staff with general tasks as requested.
- Cover colleagues during periods of sickness or annual leave to maintain efficient operation.
Confidentiality & Information Governance
- Maintain strict confidentiality of patient, staff, and practice information at all times.
- Follow practice policies on data protection, IT security, record management, and Freedom of Information.
- Ensure information is recorded accurately and shared only with authorized individuals.
