Job summary
The pharmacy assistant will be based within our single site practice under the guidance and supervision of our pharmacy technician. They will work within our multidisciplinary team of general practice professionals to support the coordination of safe, effective and efficient systems for medicines optimisation, repeat prescribing, reducing medicine waste and maximising patient outcomes.
We are offering 20-25 hours per week, split across 4-5 days (Monday-Friday). Exact start and finish times can be negotiated.
Main duties of the job
Previous experience of working within pharmacy services is preferred but not essential. The successful candidate should have excellent attention to detail, be able to manage their own workload, be driven to achieve targets and deadlines, and be highly organised.
The pharmacy assistant will assist the pharmacy technician's workload by undertaking a range of administrative tasks and assisting in the collation and monitoring of patient registers.

- Supporting the collation, sorting and filing of FP10 prescriptions and FP34 forms.
- Maintaining registers of patients requiring regular medication monitoring and flagging if patients become overdue.
- Coordinating medication reviews.
- Obtaining information from patients ahead of medication reviews.
- Responding to patients questions; referring problems or queries to the pharmacistor pharmacy technician.
- Relaying information/messages to patients from the pharmacist, pharmacy technician, or prescriber.
- Assisting medicines reconciliation on the receipt of discharge summaries and hospital/clinic letters.
- Assisting with processing repeat prescription requests and forwarding requests where further input is required.
- Liaison with community pharmacies to discuss and overcome issues.
- Participating in medication audits.
- Taking responsibility for contributing to all aspects of the day-to-day management of the working environment including communication, data accuracy and management, keeping practice areas tidy and helping to achieve a supportive, positive culture across the practice team.

- Equivalent of four GCSEs at Grade C and above, including mathematics, English language, science and one other subject.
