Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Pharmacy Technician to join the team. To support the clinical pharmacist in their role as the practice is growing in numbers weekly.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the primary care team in the practice supporting the Clinical Pharmacist to help achieve efficiencies and effectiveness. To support with leading improvements to maximise safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. To improve repeat prescribing processes in General Practice, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering, minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.

About us

Kingfisher Family Practice is based in Retford and has almost 15000 patients. We are a semi rural location with good transport and network links.

Person Specification

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working with the public.
  • Experience in supporting with the planning, development and delivery pharmacy services
  • Computer literate with an ability to use the required GP clinical systems (desirable) and Microsoft office packages (essential)
  • Ability to analyse and interpret prescribing data
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and evaluate specialist medicines related information or data.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and autonomously as required, without the need for close supervision or support.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills including report writing, presentations and system specifications.

Desirable

  • Experience of working within primary care
  • Knowledge of NHS Long Term Plan agenda and Government targets
  • Awareness of systems to support management of patients in a primary care setting, delivering pharmaceutical input and support in the context of pathways of care and the business of the organisation(s)

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional registration with GPhC
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Completed Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) Pharmacy Technician 15 month training pathway.

Desirable

  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
  • A minimum of two years experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy.
