Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly organised Medicines Management Administrator to join our team at Ash Trees Surgery on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

Main duties of the job

Working within our busy Medicines Management Team, you will be responsible for delivering a safe, accurate and efficient prescription service for our patients. You will process acute and repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols, clinical safety requirements, and performance KPIs.

This is a demanding and fast-paced environment, and we are looking for someone who brings excellent organisation, accuracy, and a genuine commitment to high-quality service.

Experience working with prescriptions or within primary care would be an advantage, although full training will be provided.

Job responsibilities

This is a focused role within Ash Trees Surgery, supporting patient facing administration functions with the clinical and administration team at the practice in organising patient care and helping to ensure that medicines are issued in a safe and timely manner.

Manage the surgery prescription lines plus organisation of the medicine managements task box.

Be responsible for providing an accurate prescription service to patients, processing acute and repeat prescriptions in line with practice processes and KPIs.

Receive and process medication requests both received in person and electronically, communicating effectively with patients and keeping them updated and informed on the progress of their requests.

Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the primary health care team, pharmacies and other associated healthcare agencies, either in person or via the telephone.

Identify any changes required to synchronise patients medication when items may be out of repeat.

Keep patients up to date and aware of the progress of their prescription request, using all communication methods available to ensure patients are informed

Inform patients usual GPs of changes to medications, and communicate with community pharmacies of changes to medication for patients who have set up repeat dispensing

Identify where medication reviews and other aspects of patient care are due and help organise this work.
