Medical Secretary

Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated, efficient and organised individual to join our fast-paced administration department to carry out medical secretarial work, and support the efficient day-to-day running of our practice. The role requires a flexible approach and somebody that thrives in a busy and care focused environment. The role is a part time role worked over 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) between the hours of 9am - 5pm (22.5 hours a week total, plus a half hour unpaid break each day).

Main duties of the job

  • To type clinical letters, reports and patient referrals for GPs and other clinicians as required.
  • To make appointments, bookings and admissions as required.
  • Utilising the E-Referral Service and keeping abreast of updates/changes.

  • Processing, keeping record of, and chasing up all requests for medical/insurance reports.

  • Making phone calls on behalf of clinicians e.g. to other departments regarding patient referrals.
  • Inputting appropriate coding and clinical data onto patient notes.
  • Effectively utilising the various practice clinical systems.
