Job summary

Commonfield Road surgery is recruiting for a Practice Phlebotomist. the hours are 22.5 per week Monday to Friday 08.00-12.30pm, house visits will be required, £11.20 per hour.

We are a friendly practice and small team. We are looking to recruit someone who enjoys a fast pace efficient environment.

We offer NHS pension and Benenden Health policy for all employees.

Main duties of the job

  • Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample
  • Collection of sample(s) of blood in accordance with training and procedures
  • Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers
  • Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm patient identity
  • Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and confirming with patient whenever possible
  • Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in accordance with practice procedure
  • Ensuring that samples are dispatched to the appropriate laboratories in a timely fashion
  • Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff
  • Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
  • Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team

About us

We are friendly team of four GPs, two Practice Nurses and an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

We have a full compliment of administration staff.

We serve our local community and surrounding areas, and actively participate in Healthier West Wirral Primary Care Network

Qualifications

Essential

  • GCSE grade A to C or NVQ in Health and Social Care.
  • Fully trained phlebotomist.

Desirable

  • Qualified in Phlebotomy and with children

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within Health Care setting

  • Experience of working in primary care or GP practice setting
