Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Phlebotomist to join our friendly GP surgery team. The role involves providing high-quality phlebotomy services for our patients in a supportive and well-organised environment.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a health care or clinical setting, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centred approach.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform venepuncture on patients in line with clinical guidance and infection control standards.
  • Ensure samples are correctly labelled, recorded, and prepared for collection by the laboratory.
  • Accurately update patient records on the clinical system (EMIS).
  • Maintain equipment, stock levels, and cleanliness of the phlebotomy area.
  • Work collaboratively with GPs, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
  • Provide reassurance and information to patients, ensuring dignity, privacy, and comfort at all times.
  • Report any abnormal findings, incidents, or concerns to the appropriate clinician or manager.
  • Adhere to all practice policies, including infection control, health and safety, confidentiality, and safeguarding.

The team consists of 4 GPs, a nurse practitioner, 2 practice nurses, an HCA, 2 GPAs, administrators and care navigators.
