We are looking for a part time Phlebotomist with
excellent clinical, communication and service skills to join our friendly Nursing
Team.
Main duties of the job
Typical duties
include venepuncture, ICE forms, sample handling, and updating patient records.

Candidates must be service-minded, driventohelp
others and makethepatient
experienceasstraightforward
as possible. Confidence in talking to patients with diverse needs is required
and excellent communication skills are required. It is essential to be organised,
efficient, adaptable, and flexible in a fast-pacedworking
environment.
Applicants
should be enthusiastic, professional, and ideally have experience of working in
a busy GP surgery using SystmOne. In addition to a competitive salary, you will

Paston Surgery
serves a population of over 6500 patients in North Walsham and the surrounding
area. A Phlebotomist is an essential part of our Nursing Team and support other
clinical staff and practice management.

Job responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities of the Phlebotomist. There
may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be
dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

Obtaining patient consent for the collection
of a blood sample

Performing venipuncture in accordance with
practice protocols

Maintaining accurate patient records on the
clinical IT system
-
The correct labelling, packaging and storing
of samples
-
Effective use of the specimen log, resolving
any discrepancies
-
Ensuring samples are sent to the laboratory in
a timely manner
-
Maintaining an effective liaison with the NHS
Trust laboratory staff
-
Working collaboratively with the nursing team,
seeking guidance when necessary for patient related matters
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Phlebotomist may be
requested to:

Participate in practice audit as
directed by the audit lead

Participate in local initiatives
to enhance service delivery and patient care
-
Support and participate in
shared learning within the practice
-
Complete opening and closing
procedures in accordance with the duty rota
