Essential
- Mandatory registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Completion of an MPharm or equivalent pharmacy degree
- Independent prescribing qualification is desirable or the pharmacist should be willing to work towards it
- Membership of professional bodies like the Royal Pharmaceutical Society is desirable.
- Completion of the CPPE Primary Care Pharmacy Education Pathway is expected for primary care competence
Desirable
- Minimum 2-3 years post-registration experience in pharmacy, with exposure to clinical, community, or hospital settings
- Experience or awareness of common acute and long-term conditions managed in general practice
- Familiarity with primary care prescribing practices, medication optimisation, polypharmacy, and patient safety protocols
- Previous involvement in clinical medication reviews, polypharmacy management, and patient consultations is advantageous
- Experience with care home or domiciliary reviews can be desirable
