Job summary

Due to the current postholder moving to another post in the practice, we are now looking to recruit for this crucial role.

We are looking for someone who will be diligent and reliable to support the whole team with housekeeping responsibilities across both sites.

Main duties of the job

The post holder must be able to communicate well with all stakeholders. They will have responsibilities for beverages and food preparation, housekeeping, cleaning, and other general duties such as maintaining and replenishing stock and transporting post and other documentation between sites. The post holder will be required to travel to both sites on a daily basis, therefore a valid drivers licence (and access to a car) or reliable transportation will be a requirement.

About us

Trafalgar Medical Group Practice works from two sites in Southsea, one being Eastney Health Centre, the other Osborne Road. The Practice continues to grow and has a medical team of five partners, and currently twelve salaried GPs. Our nursing team, led by Sam King our Nurse Manager, are very experienced and highly regarded. They are all supported with an excellent admin, secretarial and reception team who work across both sites.

Job responsibilities

1. Beverage and Food:

Prepare and serve tea, coffee, and other refreshments to staff and visitors. Ensure the kitchen area is kept clean and well-stocked with supplies. Maintain cleanliness of cups, glasses, and other utensils. Maintain & replenish stock for beverage making, includes going out to purchase milk, tea, coffee etc using petty cash. Providing or making sandwiches and other snacks for meetings and training events. Comply with relevant Food Hygiene Standards for all food and beverage associated tasks responsibilities.

2. Housekeeping:

Clean and maintain the kitchen and staff areas at both sites of the surgery including the kitchen, microwave and fridge. Empty and clean bins regularly.

3. Cleaning:

Clean glass surfaces and high-touch areas such as door handles. Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained and stored correctly. Ensure toilets are clean and tidy for both staff and patients, replenishment of paper towels and soap.

4. Travel:

Travel between our two sites to perform duties daily. Ensure that all cleaning and housekeeping tasks are completed to the same high standard at both locations.

5. General Duties:

Maintain & replenish stock and ensure that equipment is clean & well maintained. Report any maintenance issues to the Practice Manager. Ensure a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness is maintained at all times. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure the safety of all staff and patients. Comply with Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations. Deliver post and other documentation between sites as required.

Qualifications

Desirable

  • GCSE in Maths, English and science or equivalent.
  • NVQ level 3 in a relevant subject, e.g. customer service.

Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of customer service work ideally in a medical
  • environment.
  • Evidence of working with confidential information.
  • Evidence of working autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Experience of food and drink preparation in line with food
  • hygiene standards.
  • Experience of handling money/petty cash.
  • Evidence of working within Health & Safety and COSHH
  • regulations.

  • Experience working in a primary care setting.
