Healthcare Assistant

Job summary

Working under the direct supervision of the senior practice nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the healthcare assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Main duties of the job

ECGs and recording

H-Pylori

Phlebotomy

Chaperoning duties

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs and nurses

Vaccine and cold chain storage, monitoring and recording

Surgical equipment and vaccine restocking and stock rotation

Assisting the nurses with immunisation clinics

Clearing and restocking consulting rooms

Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations/coil fits.

Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual to include but not limited to:

NHS health checks

Dressings

Long term condition reviews part 1

Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how it can be promoted

Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well-being

Other duties as required and as both the role and the practice evolve.

About us

We are a progressive SystmOne practice with a list size of approximately 12500 patients. We have an excellent nursing team consisting of 4 nurses, 3 HCAs and a Phlebotomist. Working alongside them are 4 GP partners, 5 Salaried GPs, 2 ECPs, 2 Practice Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians and a highly supportive Patient Service team. We are a training practice for GP registrars and medical students and highly value every member of our practice team.

Salary will be dependent upon experience.
