Job responsibilities

To lead the PCN employed ARRS staffs in concert with their various Team Leaders to deliver maximum benefit to our 5 Practices.

To seek out, facilitate and drive co-operation, co-ordination and collaboration between the 5 Practices and the PCN.

To manage the PCN budget, working with the Finance Manager to ensure that various streams of money are aligned with planned expenditure.

To ensure relevant insurances and NHS pension access is maintained for all PCN staff.

To organise, plan and chair weekly PCN Management meetings and Monthly Board meetings.

To facilitate the career development and advancement of all PCN staff and to ensure that Team Leaders are growing in their abilities and confidence.

Working with those Team Leaders;

• Oversee the PCN staff appointment systems, to ensure accurate data capture and adherence to national data rules and standards.
• Using digital systems and data to conduct regular reviews and audit of appointment activity, reviewing demand and capacity trends and making recommendations as appropriate.
• To participate in the implementation and maintenance of all associated requirements, upgrades, security and services supporting the PCNs IT systems.
• To provide support advice and training for current and new PCN staff in the use of the clinical systems.
• Generate system reports when required for service performance audits.
• Ensure personnel records are maintained for all staff, including DBS checks, absenteeism and training records.
• Ensure completion annual appraisals and conduct regular 1:1s for staff with line management responsibility.
• Implement, coordinate and oversee a safe induction process for new staff to ensure they are adequately trained to fulfil their role.

The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the team and beyond.

Develop and maintain effective working relationship with PCN practice members, local healthcare teams and stakeholders.

Role model positive working and promote organisational values. Providing leadership and direction for the departmental functions.

Nurture collaborative and productive relationships between teams and practice members.

Report any significant issues regarding staff or services to Clinical Director.

Implement mandatory and personal development training for the PCN ARRS workforce roles and run a collective training programme for staff from Practices and the PCN.

Work with PCN Team Leaders to resolve any employee relations (disciplinary/grievance) issues to a satisfactory conclusion.

Qualifications

Essential

• To demonstrate the ability to lead a happy, and therefore, highly effective team of people.
• To deal with the inevitable periods of stress while retaining focus on the team and its output.
• Proven experience in a management role demonstrating the ability to deal with the detail but maintain the strategic overview.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively with different teams.
• Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
• Self-motivated and disciplined, with the ability to work independently and remotely when required.
• Good standard of education with excellent literacy and numeracy skills.

Desirable

• Knowledge of SystmOne.
• Strong IT skills and the ability to identify pros and cons of digital technology solutions.

Experience

Essential

• Experience of successfully managing teams in high pressure environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• 'Chair' meetings on line and face to face.
• Strong people skills with a positive impact on the team - sensitive to today's working environment but firm in upholding the needs of the business.
• Demonstrable track record of treating everyone equally and fairly.

Desirable

• Experience of working in General Practice or Primary Care.
