Job summary

We are looking for an experienced ANP to join our ever expanding team.

East Norwich Medical Partnership is a dual site practice based in Sprowston and Thorpe with just under 15k patients.

We are committed to provide the best service to our patients and we are looking for kind, enthusiastic people who are willing to go above and beyond for our patients and the Practice.

Main duties of the job

    • Manage and organise individual patient consultations.
    • Assist patients to identify their health needs.
    • To assess and diagnose across a wide range of primary health care conditions, order investigations, plan and provide treatment as needed and discharge patients without reference to a Doctor.
    • To liaise with a Doctor about patients with complex problems who need the expertise of a GP.
    • To initiate appropriate and timely consultation and or referral when a present condition exceeds the Nurse Practitioners scope of practice and/or expertise.
    • To demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision making.
    • Follow agreed clinical protocols with referral to GPs as appropriate.
    • To assess, tolerate and manage risk and deal with uncertainty.
    • To prescribe in accordance with regulations and with the post holders training and registration.
    • To prescribe safe, evidence based, cost-effective and appropriate medication as defined by current legislative framework and within the local non-medical prescribing policy
    • To follow agreed national and local treatment guidelines, ensuring all care is delivered within the professional scope of practice.
    • To have clinical and professional accountability for prescribing practice, work at all times within the practitioners clinical competence and with reference to the NMC professional standards.

About us

East Norwich Medical Partnership has approximately 41 members of staff who work in various areas of the practice. We have a dedicated administration team, Medical Secretaries, Receptionists and Prescribing team.

We are a 7 partnership Practice who are all General Practitioners, with a Salaried GP, and a regular locum GP.

We have 3 Practice Nurses, an Asthma/COPD Nurse 2 HCAs and 4 Phlebotomists.

Our management team includes a Practice Manager, Operations Manager, Compliance Manager and an IT manager.

We always welcome staff in from other services and we feel lucky to be able to offer in house Physiotherapy, Mental Health and Learning Disability's support to our patients. We have a clinical Pharmacist who is able to prescribe and go through medication reviews and acute medication for our patients.

We pride ourselves on looking after our staff as well as our patients to ensure we provide the best service.

To provide a high standard of evidence based triage and minor illness assistance to the Doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team and maintain a high standard care for our patients. This will include health promotion, treatment, screening and chronic disease management and preventative care as appropriate.

The duties will include all tasks normally undertaken by an experienced Nurse Practitioner Prescriber in Triage & Minor Illness including history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care and in addition any tasks agreed between the post holder and the Doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.

To work directly and independently with our patients. Diagnosing, initiating, concluding treatment including prescribing within agreed protocols.

To work between both practice sites in Thorpe St Andrew and Sprowston.

To use SystmOne and Ardens Templates as our practice clinical system of choice.

Adhere to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Professional Conduct and to be conversant with The Scope of Professional practice and other NMC advisory papers.

  • Registration with NHS Business Service Authority as a Prescriber
  • Eligible to work as a Nurse in the UK
  • UK work permit if required
  • Skills in written and spoken English adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
  • RGN with current NMC registration
  • Current revalidation certificate where appropriate
  • Current Hep B immunity certificate
  • Current BLS Certificate
  • Safeguarding Certificates
  • Possession of full, clean UK driving licence
  • Access to own private transport with valid insurance including business use
  • Ability to work as part of Extended Hours service provision.
