Here at Alexandra Group Medical Practice we are looking to recruit a Part-Time Medical Receptionist / Administrator to join our practice team.
Leading the patient experience for the surgery, is a key position which requires excellent communication skills, the ability to multi-task, effective task management and a positively focused approach.
This is a busy role which requires a calm, measured approach, an empathy for patients and the ability to re-prioritise throughout the day depending on the needs of the service.

The ideal candidate should have previous experience working within the NHS, General Practice and EMIS experience, (Trainingwill be given for the right candidate) Any potential candidate must be organised, self-motivated, forward thinking and have excellent organisational, IT and customer service skills.

The practice opening hours are 8am to 6:30pm, therefore the candidate must have flexibility with the woking hours.
Main duties of the job
To make appointments and book patients in when they arrive for an appointment in accordance with the practice appointment system and to provide a helpful and friendly service to patients ensuring also that the reception area is tidy and welcoming. To answer telephones promptly ensuring that all in-coming lines are covered at all times. To comply with the practice protocol for the printing of prescription requests and queries. To comply with the practice procedure for the registration of new patients, GP. To follow practice procedure regarding letters that arrive at the surgery either externally by post or internally from the hospital. To comply with all relevant practice procedures, regulations and protocols and to maintain confidentiality at all times with particular reference to patient records. To liaise with the Office Manager and/or Practice Manager when required and follow instructions from them when necessary. To act as receptionist to a named GP or nursing team. To undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate by the Practice.

We are a medium sized practice with just over 7,500 patients.
The practice has 2 GP partners, 2 ANP's ,1 paramedic 2 Practice nurses and
1 Phlebotomist and 8 admin staff, We are a friendly practice and regularly have nights out. Most of the team have been at the practice several years

Using your own judgment and communication skills ensure that patients with no prior appointment but who need urgent consultations are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed. Processing telephone requests and in person requests for appointments, visits and telephone consultations and ensuring callers are directed to the appropriate healthcare professional. Take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery. Process tasks. Enter requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor Viewing Internet for messages and dealing with them. Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient within 48 hours.(traininfg will be given) Filing prescriptions alphabetically. Printing blood forms. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same.
