Bookkeeper

Job summary

We are looking for an experienced bookkeeper with strong administrative skills and excellent attention to detail.

The post holder will be responsible for day to day financial transactions including raising and paying invoices, bank reconciliation, cashflow management, processing payroll, pension administration and liaising with external accountants.

Knowledge of General Practice funding and NHS pension schemes would be an advantage.

Main duties of the job

Key responsibilities and duties include the following:

Maintain accurate financial records using Sage software

Process invoices and payments, raise invoices for income due and recharges for services provided by the surgery

Bank reconciliation

Cash flow monitoring

Process payroll for approximately 60 staff

Managing employee expense claims

Administration of employees NHS Pension scheme and GP Partners superannuation contributions

Assist with relevant claims for GP training, maternity locums, FP34 etc.

Preparation of ad hoc financial information to support business decision-making

Maintain information and claims relating to Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme

Support year-end accounts processes and ensure financial documents and records are organised, compliant and readily accessible for audit and reporting purposes

Liaise with suppliers and staff regarding finance queries

Liaise with bank, external accountants and other external organisations as needed

About us

Balmore Park Surgery is a friendly and well-established practice in Caversham, providing high quality care to over 21,000 patients.

We are a training practice comprising 5 GP partners, supported by a range of clinicians including salaried GPs, GP trainees, ANPs, Pharmacists, Nurses, HCAs, Phlebotomists, a Mental Health nurse and a Social Prescriber. Reporting to the Practice Business Manager, you will be part of the large administrative team comprising the Operations Manager, the Clinical Data & IT Manager and a team of patient services staff, clinical coders, administrators, and care coordinators.

We are a PMS practice and are part of the Caversham Primary Care Network.

  • Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Experience of bank reconciliations, budgeting, cashflow, banking and financial reporting
  • Payroll experience

Desirable

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths
