Job summary
The Pharmacy Technician will work to support the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines within GPS Healthcare. This role provides an opportunity for the post holder to gain experience across a range of pharmacy technician duties within the primary care setting. The Pharmacy Technician will support the multi-disciplinary team with administrative, reconciliation, medicines management tasks and clinical safety tasks both autonomously and as part of the team.
Main duties of the job
- Undertaking a patient supporting role to ensure effective medicines use, through shared decision-making conversations with patients
- To provide advice to patients with long term conditions (LTCs) on specific medicines management issues
- Carry out medicines optimisation tasks, including effective medicine administration, supporting medication reviews, medicine awareness and medicines reconciliation.
- To provide advice to GPs, staff and patients in changes to prescribing to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality and cost effectiveness.
- Support the organisation in the delivery of clinical safety processes to ensure safe, effective practice across the PCN.
- To participate in audits of medication that require frequent monitoring.To respond to medication queries from patients and staff in a professional manner referring to the appropriate GP in accordance with practice protocols.
