Job summary
We are seeking a newly qualified GP to join our PCN under the ARRS GP Scheme. This scheme is designed for newly qualified GPs who are currently out of work and have not yet held substantial employment contracts.
- Hours: 25 hours per week, split into:
- 1/3 professional development (mentoring, CPD, and quality improvement projects).
- 2/3 clinical commitment (patient-facing and admin)
- Pay: £73,000 per annum (full-time equivalent), pro rata for 25 hours per week over the 3-month contract.
- Flexible Working: Hours can be adjusted to suit the candidate, including mornings only, long days, or Saturday mornings. CPD activities may be undertaken remotely with reliable internet access.
Whilst the Clinical Director is aware this role is at the lowest rate on the BMA scale, the structure of this post balances clinical work with significant education and mentoring, creating a unique opportunity for professional development.

- Work on projects such as drug safety, prevalence improvement, and birthday recall systems for long-term condition reviews.
- Practice Management:Gain insights into the business rules of running a practice, including:
- Understandingdispensing practices, formulary management, endorsing, and VAT rules.
- Exposure to practice audits, drug monitoring, and patient recall systems.
- Clinical Research:Opportunity to complete theGood Clinical Practice courseand gain hands-on experience in research design, patient screening, and community-based studies.
At the end of the 3-month role, the structured development plan will have equipped you with enhanced skills, knowledge, and to preparefor partnership roles.
Clinical Commitment
The16-hour clinical componentincludes:
- A standard session involves3 hours of clinical contact, including breaks, with15 appointments (10 minutes each)per session.
- Appointments may be face-to-face or telephone-based
- Admin Time:1 hour per session for associated administrative tasks.

- Clinical Research: Opportunity to complete the Good Clinical Practice course and gain hands-on experience in research design, patient screening, and community-based studies.
