PRACTICE
NURSE VACANCY
An exciting
opportunity has arisen for an experienced Practice Nurse to join our friendly,
hardworking, caring, and supportive practice at Ling House Medical Centre.
You will need to be
a Registered General Nurse, have evidence of continued professional
development. GP Practice Nurse experience is essential. We would like your skills
and experience to include the following: childhood immunisations, cytology, chronic disease
management, spirometry, travel advice/vaccinations, and performing ECGs. We
will support additional training for the above requirements for the right
candidate. Nurse prescribers are also encouraged to apply.
Ideally candidates should be familiar/have knowledge of the SystmOne computer system.
Salary negotiable, depending on experience. NHS Pension and up to 33 days holiday entitlement dependent on length of service within the NHS.

Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role are to provide and maintain a high standard of
nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the
doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally
undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the
nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.

Ling House Medical Centre has a practice population of 20,000 patients, across two sites. We have 4 GP Partners, 7 Salaried GPs, 6 Practice Nurses, 4 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 1 Nurse Accociate, 1 HCA and a phlebotomist. We also have a team of Pharmacists as well as a full team of administrative staff.
We are a forward-thinking training practice for both GP Registrars and medical students with a supportive multi-disciplinary team including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Mental Health Support Worker, Practice Nurses, Social Prescribers, Physios, HCAs and a Paramedic ACP. We hold a strong, patient-centered ethos for our diverse patient demographic and are situated in a large town surrounded by the Yorkshire moors and near to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
Our practice is part of The Wharfedale, Airedale & Craven Alliance (WACA), a tightly knit federation of eight independent, innovative GP practices covering a population of 72,000 patients. Job Summary:
To provide and maintain a high standard of
nursing care for patients as well as providing nursing assistance to the
doctors and other members of the primary healthcare team. The duties will include all tasks normally
undertaken by an experienced RGN and in addition any roles agreed between the
nurse and the doctors as appropriate, having regard to current training.
Job Responsibilities:
Professional:
- Offer
advice about childhood and adult vaccinations and ensure vaccines are
administered under patient group directions.
- Running
well person clinics and health promotion programmes by providing a
holistic assessment and lifestyle advice on diet, smoking, alcohol intake
and exercise. Facilitates change.
- Cytology.
Perform a holistic assessment of patients attending for cervical cytology
smear tests.
- Chronic
Health Disease monitoring
- Diabetes
- Asthma/COPD
- Offer
a holistic approach to travel health by providing comprehensive advice to
patients prior to travel including; vaccinations and medicines, safe sex,
food hygiene, sun protection.
- Assessing
problems presented opportunistically by patients, dealing with minor
illness.
- Able
to document Consultations according to NMC guidelines
- Ensures
awareness of statutory and local clinical protection procedures, including
systems of referral. Ability to
recognise signs and symptoms of child abuse.
- Perform
venepuncture according to local guidelines
- Provide
a holistic approach to wound management and implement wound care in line
with current evidence based guidelines.

removal.
