An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Phlebotomist to join our friendly, hardworking, caring, and supportive practice at Ling House Medical Centre.
Phlebotomy experience is essential.
Hours - 30 per week.

Ideally candidates should be familiar/have knowledge of the SystmOne computer system.
NHS Pension and up to 33 days holiday entitlement dependant on length of service within the NHS.
Main duties of the job
Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care
as directed by nursing staff and GPs
Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before,
during and after patient care interventions
Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients
health and well-being when required
Helping to raise awareness of health and well-being and how
it can be promoted
Undertaking visits to housebound patient if required to
assist in monitoring well being as and when required
To work with the Practice to ensure that the services we
provide to people are safe, effective, compassionate, of a high quality and
meet the Care Quality Commission standards.

Ling House Medical Centre has a practice population of 20,100 patients, across two sites. We have 4 GP Partners, 7 Salaried GPs, 5 Practice Nurses, 5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners, 1 Nurse associate and 1 HCA and 2 Pharmacists as well as a full team of administrative staff.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job summary:
Working under the direct supervision of the practice nurses
and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the
phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venepuncture to obtain blood
samples from patients.
Duties and Responsibilities.
Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as
possible and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
The collection of samples, of blood in accordance with
training and procedures
Ensuring samples are stored in appropriate containers.
Accurate, legible labelling of all samples to confirm
patient identity.
Checking patient identification against GP/nurse request and
confirming with patient whenever possible
Recording collection of blood sample in patient record in
accordance practice procedure
Ensuring that the blood samples are dispatched to the
laboratory in a timely fashion.
Notifying the GP/nurse of any significant patient issues
Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative
team
Effectively manage own time, workloads, and resources
Team Building
Work effectively within the nursing team and alongside the
reception/admin team and medical team
Standards
Report any clinical or environmental issues of concern and
take action to rectify these where appropriate.
Ensure a working knowledge and compliance with Practice
